Viola T. Shero

Viola T. Shero, 99, Ebensburg, formerly of Carrolltown passed away January 2, 2019 at Cambria Care Center.  She was born March 15, 1919 in Nicktown, the daughter of George and Anna (Walsh) Kritzer.  She would have celebrated her 100th birthday in March.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Vincent A. Shero who passed away June 25, 1985 after 45 years of marriage, infant son George, sisters Magadeline Miller, Catherine Kirsch and Bernette Mulligan, sons-in-laws Fred Blagdon, Bob Botkin, Danny Nolte and daughter-in-law Kathy Shero.  She is survived by her loving children Janet Blagdon, Medford, OR, Jean Botkin, Downingtown, PA, Ronald “Butch” Shero, Ebensburg, Doris Nolte, Orbisonia, Sally (Robert) Letson, Warrenton, VA, Edward (Kathy) Shero, Nicktown, grandchildren Gary, Rob, Sandy, Jeffrey, Christina, Doug, Donny, Amanda, Nicole and Josh, twelve great grandchildren, two great grandchildren, sister Imogene McCombie, Nicktown and numerous nieces and nephews.  Vit’s spent her life as a loving wife, mother, grandmother.  She worked several years at the shoe factory and making carpets.  She was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, American Legion, Fireman’s Auxiliary, St. Benedict Altar Rosary Society and was past president of Senior Citizens Club all located in Carrolltown. Vit’s enjoyed volunteering at many community functions such as the bloodmobile and St. Vincent de Paul.  She enjoyed attending card parties and bingo. Friends will be received from 10:00 am until 11:00 am Funeral Mass Monday in the Boniface Wimmer Room at St. Benedict Catholic Church Carrolltown, by Rev. Jude W. Brady, OSB, Rev. Myron Kirsch, OSB nephew of the deceased concelebrating.  Committal church cemetery.  Memorials are requested to Alzheimer’s Association 100 West Station Square Drive Suite 500 Pittsburgh, PA 15219 in her memory.  Arrangements are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home, Inc., Carrolltown.  (www.stevensfamilyfuneralhomes.com)
