Russell E. Wentz

Russell E. Wentz, 94, Hollidaysburg, passed away Friday morning at the Hollidaysburg Veteran’s Home.

He was born in Sproul, son of the late George H. and Sarah C. (Whysong) Wentz.  He married Betty Jane Simpson March 29, 1946 in Altoona,

Surviving are his wife, Betty; two daughters: Linda Lea Bretz (William W.) of Hollidaysburg and Cathy J. Householder (Terry) of Duncansville; four granddaughters: Kelli Keller (Chris), Brenda Bretz, Jill Lang (Ian), and Kelsey Riden (Jim); four great-grandsons: Tyler Shaw (Sarah), Brady Shaw, Jordan Keller, and Alexander Pruznak; great-granddaughter, Meleah Lang; and four great-great-grandchildren: Kamerynn Singer, Joe Shaw, Dakota Shaw, and Kenze Shaw.

He was predeceased by two sisters, Louise Smith and Garnet Dively and four brothers: Simon, Charles, Bernard, and Chester.

Russell was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in WWII.  He was employed at the A&P Bakery in Altoona for 31 years and was a custodian for the Hollidaysburg School District with over ten years of service.

Russell was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Hollidaysburg as well as the Hollidaysburg American Legion and the VFW.

Friends will be received from 2-4 pm on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at Plank, Stitt & Stevens Funeral Home, 421 Montgomery St., Hollidaysburg.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11 am on Monday, December 17, 2018 at the funeral home by Pastor David Bowman.

Interment will be in Presbyterian Cemetery, Hollidaysburg.
