Ruby Louise (May) Zeek

Ruby Louise (May) Zeek, 92, Altoona, formerly of Hollidaysburg, passed away Friday, July 27, 2018 at Hillview Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born in East Freedom, PA on June 17, 1926, the daughter of George Leonard and Ethel (Snowberger) May.  On May 27, 1944 in East Freedom she married Michael George “Pat” Zeek, who preceded her in death on July 30, 1985 after 41 years of marriage.

Surviving are: a daughter, Susan Marie Reighard and son-in-law Charles Reighard of Bellefonte; four grandchildren: Stacey Louise Humes (Christopher); Robert Michael Weaver (Gretchen); Megan Marie Husted (Christopher) and Ashley Margaret Severino (Matthew); eight great-grandchildren:  Olivia Christine Humes; Paige Elizabeth Humes; Aaliyah Marie Watkins; Chloe Mey Watkins; Hadlie Mariah Husted; Orianna Marin Husted; Noah Francis-Reighard Severino; and Allison May Severino; a sister: Margaret Alice Aungst;  her dog Bailey; and several nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.

In addition to her parents and husband, Ruby was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Faye Louise Weaver; son-in-law, Robert A. Weaver; her twin sister Ruth; and her two brothers, Robert Lee May and George Thomas May. 

Ruby was employed as a school crossing guard and as a deli clerk at Riverside Market.  She was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church in Hollidaysburg.  She enjoyed auctions, Canasta, bingo, dogs, and a good margarita.  But she especially enjoyed spending time with her loved ones.  She was the heart of her family and will be missed beyond measure.

There will be no visitation.  Services and interment are private and will be held at the convenience of the family.  If anyone would like to honor Ruby’s memory, the family requests that donations be made to the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society, 1837 E. Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, PA 16602.

The family would also like to extend a heart felt thank you to Hillview.  The care and love that Ruby received from the entire Hillview staff was top notch, compassionate, and deeply appreciated.
