Richard C. “Pete” Hoover, 81, Flinton passed away May 4, 2017 at UPMC Altoona. He was born March 19, 1936 in Cresson, the son of Paul and Hilda (Deihl) Hoover. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother and sister in infancy. He is survived by his wife LaVerne (Chverchko) Hoover whom he married October 14, 1961; children Mark (Kimberly) Hoover, Texas; Paul (Stacey) Hoover, Patton; grandchildren Kalie, Maddelyn, Sydney and Charles Hoover; brothers and sisters Allen(Jackie) Hoover, Virginia Beach, VA; Gregory (Terri) Hoover, Altoona; Carol Ficken, Duncansville; Joan (Thorton) Shephard; Lancaster and Linda (Monty) Strassberger, Altoona and numerous nieces and nephews. He served with the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict and was employed as an electric lineman, mechanic, former Patton police officer and retired from the Department of Public Welfare. Pete was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Patton and the Patton Senior Center.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, the outdoors and spending time with his family.  Friends will be received from 2:00 to 6:00 pm Sunday at Stevens Funeral Home, Inc. 1004 North Fifth Avenue Patton.  Memorial mass will be held 11:00 am Monday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church by Benedictine Fathers. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the Parkinson’s Foundation. (
