Regina Marie McDonald

September 11, 1926 – January 11, 2018

Regina Marie McDonald, 91, Altoona, passed away Thursday at Homewood at Martinsburg.  She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late George and Caroline (Sanders) Platt.  She married William M. McDonald on June 18, 1947, who preceded her in death on March 10, 2006.

Surviving are three sons:  Dennis (Janet) of Springfield, VA, Stephen (Maureen) of Altoona, and Michael (Eva) of New Freedom; a daughter, Diane Knisely (Greg) of Queen; six grandchildren:  Alissa Krise, Stephen McDonald, Jr., Sean McDonald, Ryan Miller, Colleen Wertz and Heather Saulitis; 11 great-grandchildren:  Emilee, Erinn, Charlotte, Brandon, Hope, Alivia, Gracie, Harrison, Shauni, Siarra and Kaylee; and one great-great-granddaughter, Paisley.

She was preceded in death by two brothers:  Paul and Gerald; and a grandson, Gregory Miller.

Regina was a 1944 graduate of Altoona High School. 

She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church where she was a member of the Christian Mothers. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society, a past member of the Columbian Circle, and a volunteer at Mercy Hospital and the ARC of Blair County.

She enjoyed playing pinochle, jig saw puzzles and spending time with her great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received from 2 – 5 p.m. on Sunday, January 14, 2018 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Ave., where a vigil for the deceased will be held.  A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, January 15, 2018, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Father James Dugan, celebrant.  Committal will be held at Calvary Cemetery.
