Mary T. Pressler

Mary T. Pressler, 88, Altoona, passed away Tuesday at UPMC Altoona.  She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late William P. and Anna (Zauner) Neff.  On November 18, 1952, she married Carl E. “Brownie” Pressler at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.  He preceded her in death on April 7, 2015.

Surviving are a son: David (Debbie) Pressler of Altoona; two daughters:  Ann Pressler and Kathleen (Terry) Tomassetti both of Altoona; three grandchildren: Emily (Neil) Caldwell and Stephanie (Patrick) Miller both of Pittsburgh;

Patrick Tomassetti (fiancée, Corinne Tiesi) of Altoona; one great-grandchild, Natalie Rose Caldwell; a sister, Sr. Mary Neff, CSA of Fond du Lac, Wis; brother-in-law, Leo Duman; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, William J. (Gertrude) Neff, sisters: Alma Duman, Cleopha Neff, Walburga (John) O’Neill, (Gertrude) “Trudie” Neff and Anna Madeline “Maddy” Neff.

Mary was a 1947 graduate of Altoona Catholic High School.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.  Most important to her were her catholic faith and her family.  She loved being with her husband, children, grandchildren and, most recently, her first great-grandchild.  She enjoyed gardening, reading, exercise class with her friends Ann and Pauline, playing scrabble and taking pictures of scenery.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, February 18, 2018 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona where a vigil for the deceased will be held.  A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Monday, February 19, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church by Monsignor Timothy P. Stein.  Committal will be held at Calvary Cemetery.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made in Mary’s memory to St. Mary’s Memorial Fund, 1405 5th Ave., Altoona, PA  16602.
