Mary Margaret Klesius

April 17, 1928-July 9, 2017

Mary Margaret Klesius, 89, Altoona, passed away unexpectedly Sunday at UPMC Altoona.  She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Clement Peter and Marie Elizabeth (Meyer) Gutwald.  She married Richard M. Klesius on November 28, 1953 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

She is survived by her husband, Richard; a daughter, Michele (Jim) Skubak of Cranberry Twp; a son, Michael (Chris) of Pewaukee, WI; four grandchildren:  Brian (Lisa), Elizabeth (Chris), Laura and Sarah; two sisters-in-law:  Jane Gutwald of Lancaster, and Mary Anne Gutwald of Grosse Pointe Farms, MI.; numerous nieces and nephews as well as three great granddogs.

She was preceded in death by two brothers:  Frank and John and two sisters:  Clara and Catherine.

Mary Margaret was a graduate of Altoona Catholic High School and Seton Hill College.  She was a music teacher at Our Lady of Lourdes school and taught piano in her home. 

She was a sixty-three-year member of our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and had served as their organist.  She was a forty-five-year volunteer at Altoona hospital, a record 26,000 hours, and very active with the Girl Scouts.

She was an avid NCAA basketball fan and a passionate amateur genealogist.

Friends will be received from 9:30 a.m. until the 10:30 a.m. funeral Mass, Wed, July 12, 2017 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Monsignor Michael Becker Celebrant.  Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery.
