Mary Jeanne Stoltz

Mary Jeanne Stoltz, 85, Village at Morrison’s Cove, Martinsburg, formerly of Hollidaysburg, passed away Friday at the Village following an extended illness.

She was born in Hollidaysburg, daughter of the late Fred H. and Lyle I. (Smith) Foor.  She married Richard F. Stoltz June 15, 1974 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg and he preceded her in death Nov. 18, 2011.

She is survived by two brothers: Fred H. Foor Jr. of Hollidaysburg and David Foor Sr., of Lakemont; her niece, Jeannine Prendergast and her children, Ryan, Kyle, and Alyssa and her nephew, Mark Reid and his children Mark Jr and Jenifer Christian. She is also survived by nephews and nieces: Terri Harris, Joni Hutchison, Barry Foor, Dave Foor Jr, and Scott Foor.

She was predeceased by sister, Connie A. Reid and a brother, Michael V. Foor.

Mary Jeanne was a 1951 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School.  She graduated from Marywood College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and Music Education.  She majored in piano and minored in voice.  She then went on to get her Master’s Degree in Elementary Education.

Mary Jeanne taught in the Catholic School System for 16 years as an elementary and junior high school music teacher in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, Devon, Conn. and Edgewood, RI.  She retired in 1991, after 20 years of service as a secondary school teacher from Hollidaysburg Area School District.

She served on the Reunion Committee at Hollidaysburg Area High School class of 1951 and as their treasurer for 37 years.  She was the director of the adult choir at St. Mary Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg where she was also the organist for masses, funerals and other special occasions for over 30 years.  Mary Jeanne also co-chaired the Sunshine Club from 1985- 2007. 

She was a member of The Public School Retirement System, Blair County Chapter of The Pennsylvania Association of State Retirees, PSEA, NEA, The Hollidaysburg Area Education Association, and a former member of Park Hills Country Club.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, March 1, 2019 at Plank, Stitt & Stevens Funeral Home, 421 Montgomery St., Hollidaysburg, where a vigil for the deceased will be held.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg, Father Anthony Legarski officiating.

Interment will be at New St. Mary Cemetery, Hollidaysburg.
