Leslie J. “Les” Wysong

August 8, 1947-November 16, 2017

Leslie J. Wysong,70, Altoona, passed away last Thursday at his residence.  He was born in Altoona, son of Gilbert and Eleanora (Fleming) Wysong.  He married Marie Pattillo on May 3, 1975.

Surviving are his parents, his wife; a daughter, Mackenzie Wysong-Bentley (Lynn), Houston, Tx; and two sisters, Cathy and Karen Wysong, both from Richmond, VA.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Gregory Wysong.

Les was a graduate of Penn Hills High School and attended Penn State University.  He served four years in the United States Air Force in which he served as a medic and earned the rank of Sergeant.  He retired from PPG after 25 years of service.

He was a member of the Swiss Club, the VFW and a former member of the Arandale Elks Lodge. He enjoyed playing cards, and regularly spent time at the VFW post playing Trivial Pursuit.  He enjoyed outdoor activities such as hunting and fishing.  He was an avid history buff and enjoyed watching documentaries, historical fiction and attending re-enactments. 

Throughout his life, and now in death, Les was uncomfortable being in the spotlight and was clear that he did not wish to have a traditional funeral service. At his request, there will be no funeral services.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made in Les’ memory to the Family Shelter at Family Services, Inc. 2022 Broad Ave., Altoona, PA  16601
