Laurie Ann Pequignot-Smith

Laurie Ann Pequignot-Smith, 60, Hollidaysburg, passed away Sunday evening at UPMC Altoona after a brief illness. 

She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late William D. and Carmen L. (Griffith) Pequignot.  She married Brian Smith on Aug. 11, 2007, in Scotch Run Farms.

Surviving are her husband, Brian of Hollidaysburg; a son, David Lafferty of Austin, Texas; two daughters: Katie Lafferty of Hollidaysburg, and Caroline C. Lafferty of Pittsburgh; two brothers: William D. Jr. (Jeannette) of Los Gatos, Calif., and James C. (Claudia) of Hollidaysburg; a sister, Suzanne M. Pequignot of San Francisco; four nieces: Isabela Pequignot, Alexa Pequignot, Rebecca Busch and Dorothy Busch; and a nephew, George Pequignot.

Laurie was a 1975 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School and a graduate of Penn State University. She was formerly the human resources director for the Hollidaysburg YMCA, where she was involved with many activities and also coordinated many events at the Y. Prior to that, she worked for Skills of Central PA Inc. as a marketing specialist with employment services.

She was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg, and was on the Hollidaysburg School Board for 16 years.

Laurie enjoyed walking, riding her bike, cooking, music, dancing, working out and getting together with her friends and family.

Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 13, 2018, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg, where a funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 14, 2018, Monsignor Stanley B. Carson officiating. Committal will be at St. Mary Cemetery, Hollidaysburg. 

The family requests that donations in memory of Laurie be made to Blair Regional YMCA, Youth Programs, 1111 Hewit St., Hollidaysburg, PA 16648.
