Larry Eugene Shultz

February 6, 1946 - December 7, 2017

Larry Eugene Shultz ,71, Duncansville, passed away unexpectedly Thursday afternoon at his residence. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Cloyd W. and Beatrice (Hoover) Shultz. 

He is survived by his son, Shawn, of Portland Oregon; a brother, Cloyd W. Jr (Karen), Williamstown New Jersey; and two sisters:  Phyllis Schultz (Ronald), Tipton and Linda Parson (Robert), Altoona. 

Larry was a 1966 Altoona High School graduate and also a 1990 graduate of Altoona Area Vocational Technical School.  He volunteered to serve in the U.S. Army and served in Viet Nam for 19 months.  He retired from Fry Metals as a mechanic, prior to that he had worked at Procter Silex for 19 years also as a mechanic. 

He was a lifetime member of the Duncansville VFW.  Larry was a talented and gifted tradesman, mechanic, and electrician.  His greatest strength was a profound capacity for unconditional love and self-sacrifice in the service of others.  Larry was a very warm, friendly and humble person. He cared deeply for his friends, family and loved ones with a tremendous heart and generous spirit. He was often fascinated and interested in technology and inventions that were examples of creativity and true human potential. He also loved music and thought often about the great mysteries of the universe.  Larry devoted his life to the service of others and to care for and support his only child.  Larry Eugene Shultz was the living definition of love, perseverance and the true warrior spirit.  He will be deeply and forever missed by his friends and family, who loved him very very much. 

Friends will be received on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc.,1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Stevens Memorial Chapel, Pastor Bradley R. Runkle presiding. Military honors will be held by the Blair County Honor Guard.  Interment will be in Carson Valley Cemetery.
