Jean H. Cattoi

Date of Death: 1/1/2019

Jean Helen Cattoi, 93, Elmora, passed away January 1, 2019 in her sleep.  She was born June 10, 1925 in Bakerton, the daughter of George and Edith (Barnes) Leslie.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Mario “Horsey” who passed away Christmas Eve 1999, brother Roy Leslie, son-in-law Thomas Terza and extra special Uncle Howard.  She is survived by children Leslie “Robin” Terza, Indiana, Malerie (Charles) Butterworth, Northern Cambria, Vicki Rae Cattoi, Ebensburg, Jamie (David) Pedersen, Northern Cambria, Mike (special daughter-in-law Becky) Cattoi, Elmora, grandchildren Thomas (Katie) Terza, Jeannie (Tim) Runge, Kristin Butterworth, Melissa (Andy) Brosius, Taylor Steeves, Ashley (Aaron) Inkrote, Jennifer (Andy) Mosesso, Jill Pedersen, David (Madison) Pedersen, Jr.,  Steven Pedersen, Amanda Cattoi, Adam (Marie) Cattoi and Emily Cattoi.  She is also survived by her special partner in crime Louise Leslie, dear nieces Kay Lynn Shutty, Erin (John) Ivory, George (Patty) Leslie.  Jean was proud of her Bakerton roots and the fact she served her country as Rosie the Riveter, during WWII.  She was a lifetime member of Bakerton United Methodist Church and a life member of Bakerton VFW Ladies Auxiliary.  She had a silly sense of humor and requested that when she passed away that she wanted a second opinion!  She often said that all she wanted was to be a good wife and mother.  She succeeded and was the heart of our home.  She taught us to make taffy, knead bread, dance, laugh and treat others kindly.  Her blessing of being a mother continued with great grandchildren Tre and Tillman Terza, Julia, Sophie and Emma Runge, Austin, Joseph and Devon Brosius, Brexin McConnell, Jude and Luke Mosesso, Mario Cattoi and “baby Inkrote.”  Our Christmas Eves were legendary. There was singing, reading scripture, prayers, noise and great fun.  When someone came to visit, there was always “put on the tea kettle” and sit around the table.  Now it is time to say Good Bye.  God Bless you Mom, til we meet again.  At Jean’s request there will be no visitation or services.  Arrangements are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home, Inc., Carrolltown.  Contributions can be made to the Bakerton United Methodist Church in her memory.  Interment Bakerton United Methodist Church Cemetery.  (
