James ‘DeH.’ Rosenthall

May 11, 1936 – September 13, 2017

James “DeH.” Rosenthall, 81, Altoona, passed away suddenly on Wednesday at his residence. He was born in Pittsburgh, son of the late Harry B. and Fannie Rosenthall.  James was married to Audrey S. Sigel on June 29, 1958.

He is survived by his wife; a son Michael Rosenthall of Cincinnati, OH; a daughter, Ronna Holliday (Edward) of Altoona; 8 grandchildren: Brynn, Caitlin, Ethan, Paige, Claire, Adam, Dana and James; 9 great-grandchildren and a brother Charles Rosenthall of Pittsburgh.

James was also preceded in death by a son, Harry B Rosenthall on January 4, 2012.

James was a 1953 graduate of Taylor-Allderdice High School and a 1957 graduate of University of Pittsburgh Pharmacy School. 

He was the former owner and pharmacist of The Medicine Shoppe.

James was a member of Temple Beth Israel where he was treasurer for many years.  He also was a member of Jaffa Temple, Past President of Jaffa Oriental Band, Past President of Jaffa Shrine Club, member of Mountain Lodge, Royal Arch and the Pitt Alumni Association.

He was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler and Pitt fan and enjoyed traveling. 

Above all, he was a wonderful man whose family meant everything to him.

Friends will be received from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 17, 2017, at Temple Beth Israel, Altoona, where a Masonic service will be held at 1:30 p.m. and a funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Rabbi Audrey Korotkin officiating. Interment will be at Mount Sinai Cemetery.
