Irene Giudice

Irene Giudice, 98, Patton passed away August 12, 2017 at the Presbyterian Village at Hollidaysburg.  She was born March 11, 1919 in Patton the daughter of Eli and Mary (Haluska) Resko who emigrated from Austria-Hungary at the turn of the twentieth century.  Irene graduated from Patton High School in 1936.  After graduation, she worked as a civilian for the Army’s Signal Corp in Philadelphia.  By the end of World War II, she worked her way up to be the number two secretary in the general’s office.  Irene married Angelo (Gerry) Giudice in 1959.  Gerry worked for the Drew Chemical Company.  After a few years of marriage, Gerry was transferred to Holland, Irene traveled to many European countries.  Irene moved to Patton from Hershey and lived with her youngest sister, Carol and her sister Louise Niemiec for the last ten years.  She is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters Verna Dolges and Mary Bartell and their spouses Paul and Leo, respectively; and four brothers Alfred, Joseph, Donald and his wife, Ruth, Fr. Blane Resko, OSB and Louise’s husband John Niemiec.  Irene is survived by her two children Christine and Gerald, her sisters retired Lt. Col. Carol Resko, Louise Niemiec, and Professor Emeritus, brother John Resko and his wife Magdalen, numerous nieces and nephews and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Friends will be received from 9:30 to 10:30 am Wednesday at Stevens Funeral Home, Inc., 1004 North Fifth Avenue Patton, PA 16668.  Funeral Mass 11:00 am Wednesday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Patton by Benedictine Fathers.  Committal St. Mary’s Cemetery. The family suggests donations to the building fund of the Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Patton.  (
