Francis L. Welsch

Francis L. Welsch, 88, of Hollidaysburg, passed away peacefully on Friday afternoon following a brief illness. 

He was born in Reynoldsville, son of the late Nicholas A. and Leona M. (McGee) Welsch. On Sept. 5, 1954, he married Louise R. Larson in DuBois.

Surviving are his wife; three sons: Randall S. (Louellen) of Colorado Springs, Colo., Rev. Jeffrey K. (Jan) of York, and Bradley F. (Julie) of Dauphin; a daughter, Tracy L. (Mark) Geis of Altoona; 17 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald; and a sister, Doris Zugg.

Francis was a 1950 graduate of Reynoldsville High School. He retired as a salesman for VF Corporation, Lee Jeans Co.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Hollidaysburg as well as the Juniata Blue Lodge No. 282, Valley of Altoona Jaffa Shrine, past-president of the Jaffa Cycle Corp. and past- director of the Jesters Court No. 70.

Francis was a member of Park Hills Country Club where he enjoyed playing golf. Among his other interests were reading, jigsaw puzzles, and Pittsburgh and Penn State sports. 

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2019, at Plank, Stitt & Stevens Funeral Home, 421 Montgomery St., Hollidaysburg, where a Masonic Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, 2019, at First United Methodist Church, Hollidaysburg. Interment will be at Alto-Reste Park.
