Earl Pattillo

March 1, 1925 - Jan. 3, 2020

Earl Pattillo, 94, Altoona, transitioned from this earthly life on Friday.  He was born in Tulip, Ark. to the late Samuel and Olivette (Smith) Pattillo. On Sept. 25, 1946 he married the late Margaret Caldwell in Winchester, Va. To this union, five children were born.

Surviving are two daughters:  Judith (Isaac) Mack of Valdosta, Ga. and Marie Wysong of Altoona; three sons: Earl (Rose) Pattillo of Port Lavaca, Texas., Tony Pattillo of Woodbridge, Va., and David Pattillo of State College; ten grandchildren: Nichelle, Natalee, Nina, MacKenzie, Chad, Marlena, Nicole, Bryan, April and Tony Jr.; twelve great-grandchildren: Ché, Kaitlyn, Savannah, Zachary, Alyssa, Aliyah, Valerie, Avah, Tequila, Jonathan, Malachi, and Ayshay; and one great-great grandson, Zayne.

Earl was preceded in death by his twin brother, Burl; daughter-in-law, Gwendolyn; and son-in-law, Leslie.

He graduated from Altoona High School in 1944 and retired from Altoona Welding and Supply after 49 years of faithful service.  

Earl was a World War II U.S. Army veteran serving at Fort Polk, La. and in Italy with the 428th transportation unit.  He received the American Service Medal, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. 

He was member of Bethel AME Church and the Arandale Elks Lodge #184.

Earl had an affection for dogs. His dog, Boy, was his last constant companion.

Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 10, 2020, at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2020, at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, followed by a funeral Service at 11 a.m. Saturday. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park.

Memorial donations may be made in Earl’s memory to the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society, 1837 E. Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, PA  16602.
