Donald W. “Bill” Lidwell

Donald W. “Bill” Lidwell, 80, Altoona, passed away Sunday at Altoona Center for Nursing Care.  He was born in Ashville, son of the late Patrick and Georgia (Noel) Lidwell.  He married Carmela A. Caracciolo on April 30, 1988 in Altoona.

Surviving are his wife, Carmela; two sons:  William P. (Cristal) Lidwell of Altoona and Steven D. (Michele) Lidwell, of Dysart; one daughter, Pamela A. Lidwell, of Altoona; three step-daughters: Stephanie S. Grantham of Gallitzin, Stacy J. (Robert) Lill of Hollidaysburg and Nicole M. (Ryan) Derr of Harrisburg; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and two sisters:  Beverly Wendekier of Camp Hill and Brenda Lidwell of Altoona.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Paulette M. Enos.

Bill was a 1954 graduate of Altoona Area High School.  He was a U. S. Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam Era. He retired as a grinder from SKF Industries with 33 years of service. He also had worked as a barber at Noel’s Barber Shop and then later at the Mall Barber Shop for many years.

He was a member of The Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and belonged to the Ashville Bass Club.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and wine making.

Friends will be received from 12-5:45 pm, Thursday, August 10, 2017 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc. 1421 8th Ave., Altoona, PA, 16602 followed by a 6 pm funeral Service outside of Mass in Stevens Memorial Chapel, Father Dennis Kurdziel celebrant.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Bill’s memory to the Central PA Humane Society, 1837 E. Pleasant Valley Boulevard, Altoona, PA  16602.
