Daniel M. Wenrich

Daniel M. Wenrich, 67, Sinking Valley, passed away Friday at UPMC Altoona.  Dan was born in Altoona, son of the late Walter E. and Josephine R. (Green) Wenrich.

He is survived by a sister, Judith Schirmacher (Henry) of Altoona; a brother, Donald B. Wenrich, Sr. of Sinking Valley; a nephew, Donald B. Wenrich, Jr. (Linda); a niece, Susan Ford (Bill); and a great-nephew, Braden Ford.

Dan was a 1968 graduate of Altoona High School where he played the saxophone in the marching band.  He retired as a chef from Gullifty’s Restaurant and had previously worked at Marhoefer and Haller Bakeries.

Dan was a member of Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church where he was previously on the church council.  He was also a member of the Swiss Club, Unter Uns, Bavarian Aid Society, AAHS Alumni Association and the Sinking Valley Fire Company.  He was also a proud contributor to the St. Labre Indian School.

He enjoyed shooting pool, bowling, gathering with friends to watch Survivor and was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler and Penn State Football fan.

A private gathering in remembrance of Dan will be held at the convenience of the family.
