Merrill Bigelow, Sr., 88, Hollidaysburg, passed away Tuesday afternoon at his residence.

He was born in Juniata, son of the late William and Betsy (Moore) Bigelow.  On Nov. 24, 1952, he married Thelma E. Wray, who preceded him in death Nov. 3, 2013.

He is survived by a son, Merrill Jr. (Regina), of York, PA ; a granddaughter, Megan; and a grandson, Thomas Myers.

Merrill retired as a driver for Lafferty Trucking.

Cynthia Jones, 76, Altoona, died Friday afternoon at UPMC Altoona after a brief illness. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Irwin and Edith (Colbert) Knuppenburg. She married Silas Jones, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Jeremy Nagle and his fiancée, Rashell Simendinger, of Altoona; and two grandsons, Brice and Alec.

Margery E. Johnston, 91, Hollidaysburg, died Saturday morning, Feb. 10, 2018, at Presbyterian Village at Hollidaysburg after a brief illness.

She was born in Turkey Valley, daughter of the late Gilbert and Violet (Bice) Harnish. On March 27, 1944, in Baltimore, Md., she married Calvin S. Johnston, who preceded her in death on July 27, 1982.

Janet Louise Nardella, 82, Altoona, passed away Thursday evening at Altoona Center for Nursing Care after a brief illness.

She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Eugene Anthony and Blanche Alverda (Burket) Spade. On Feb. 25, 1960, she married Raymond Kenneth Nardella in Altoona. He preceded her in death.

Surviving are several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Lawrence Spade Sr. in 2002.

She was born in Pittsburgh, daughter of the late Philip and Margaret (Coyne) Prendergast. On May 23, 1953 she married Francis B. Burgoon in Pittsburgh, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 11, 1998.

He was born in Roaring Spring, son of the late Zane and Bessie (Wertman) Campbell.  He married Mary Jane Gilliland August 17, 1968 in Altoona.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane of Hollidaysburg; a son, Glenn Jr. of Altoona; a sister, Ethel Isenberg of Hillview; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a son, Greg E.

She was born in Johnstown, daughter of the late Stewart and Emma (Stein) Brown. She was twice married; first to Richard S. Wade in 1954 who preceded her in death in 1994 and then to her second husband, James Ackeret in 2006 and he preceded her in death in 2017.

She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Wanser Hoover of Hollidaysburg; a son, Gary E. Beck of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
