Bonnabell W. Stangl

Bonnabell W.Stangl, 92, Duncansville, formerly of Altoona, passed away Tuesday after an extended illness at The Winds at Mattern Orchard.  She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late George and Bertha (Curry) Simington.  On December 7, 1942, she married Joseph J. Stangl.  He preceded her in death on February 5, 2006.

Surviving are a son; Robert Stangl, of Altoona; five grandchildren: Jeffrey (Lori) of Altoona, Jay (Lourdes) of CA, Michelle (Steve) Fisher of Altoona, Sheri (Joe) Caw of Altoona; and Jennifer Mallad of Duncansville; thirteen great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren.   

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Stangl; a son, Joseph Stangl; a great granddaughter, Lindsey Bowe; and one brother and five sisters.

Bonnabell was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Altoona.

She enjoyed spending time with her close friends: Joe and Pat Dorfmeister, Loretta Sanko and Pat and Patty Cassidy.  She also enjoyed gardening, antiquing, winemaking and walking.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. on Friday, December 29, 2017, at The Stevens Mortuary, 1421 8th Ave., Altoona, where a vigil for the deceased will be held.  A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on December 30, 2017, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Altoona, Monsignor Timothy P. Stein celebrant, where committal prayers will also be held.

The family requests that donations be made in Bonnabell’s memory to St. Mary Memorial Fund, 1405 Fifth Avenue, Altoona, PA 16602.
