Bernard Wm. Bogus, 85, St. Benedict passed away December 14, 2019 at Haida Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by his loving family.  He was born February 26, 1934 in St. Benedict, the son of Stanley and Victoria (Slavicsky) Bogus.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers John, Edward, Stanley and James, sisters Helen Quinn and Florence Minarish.  He is survived by his loving wife Mary Ellen (Grube) Bogus, children Beno (Joan) Bogus, Carrolltown, Marsha Cunningham, Hastings, Monica (Harry) Painter, St. Benedict, Shelly (Mary Beth Frank) Bogus, Laurel, MD, Bill (Carrie Westrick) Bogus, Ebensburg, Maria (Matt) Fowler, Carrolltown, grandchildren Kristi (Mike) Trybus, Keith Bogus, Kevin (Meghen Quilliam) Cunningham, Mallory (Jeffrey) Shaffer, Lizzy (Justin Tenerowicz) Cunningham, Mandy (Rusty) Spangler, Rob Painter, Katie, Jared and Luke Bogus, Maddie and Mia grand dogs, great grandchildren Taylor and Ally Trybus, Beau Quilliam, Lucy Cunningham, Payton Shaffer and soon to be born Everley Shaffer, Kaylee and Connor Spangler, sisters Mary Miller, St. Benedict and Bernice Terrizzi, State College, numerous nieces and nephews and special caregivers/family Kim Varner and Justine Houck.  He was a high school graduate of John Carroll High School and owner and operator of Bernard  Bogus Mink Ranch for over 50 years.  Bernard was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, Carrolltown and in his younger years he was a drummer in the Stanley Carol Orchestra Polka band.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan and loved listening to Polka’s.  In his later years he developed a passion for puzzle building.  Friends will be received from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm Tuesday at Stevens Funeral Home, Inc. 146 North Main Street Carrolltown, where a vigil for the deceased will be held.  Additional visitation will be held from 9 until the 10 am funeral Mass Wednesday at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Carrolltown by Rev. Jude W. Brady, OSB.  Interment church cemetery.  (
