Alma Mae (Foor) Farber

Alma Mae Farber, 92, Altoona, passed away Monday at Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare.

Alma was born in Altoona, daughter of the late William and Bertha M. (Schaffer) Meyers. She was twice married: first to Henry L. Foor who preceded her in death and then to Fredrick Farber who also preceded her in death.

She is survived by a daughter, Beverly K. Campbell and husband, Gary of Altoona; a son, Raymond Farber and wife, Karen of FL; two grandchildren: Tammy Izzett and husband, Don of Bellwood, Michele Ketrow and Gene Brantner; five great-grandchildren: Bryant, Kaylee and Zachary Miller, and Skyler and Abby Ketrow; and a sister, Doris Meyers.

Alma was preceded in death by brothers: Clyde “Pete”, Donald, William and James Meyers; and two sisters: Dorothy Liebegott and Betty Bastien.

She was a member of Garden Heights United Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her daughter and the staff on D2 at Maybrook Hills, where everyone called her “Gram”.

She enjoyed gardening, taking care of her cats, feeding her cardinals and having Sunday dinners. She loved her dog, Suzzy, and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be at Alto Reste Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by E. Merrill Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 2309 Broad Avenue, Altoona, PA 16601.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Central PA Humane Society, 1837 E. Pleasant Valley Blvd, Altoona, PA 16602 or Mending Hearts Animal Rescue, P.O. Box 97, Hollidaysburg, PA 11648 in Alma’s memory.
